Planning a Wedding During a Pandemic

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

We purchased our home in 2019. It was in desperate need of updating as it was stuck in a 1960’s / 70’s time capsule. But we could see so much potential in it and we’re excited to fix it up. We thought this might be something we gradually work on over the course of several years. We were wrong..

About 6 months later in February 2020 we got engaged. It was during a trip to Cabo. We were on a sail boat at sunset with Humpback Whales around the boat. It was beautiful. (Fun fact the song “If you like it you shoulda put a ring on it” came on right after he asked me, Ha ha ha ha).

In this pic they had us stand on the front of the boat for a pic and I was terrified of falling. I think it shows lol.

One month after the engagement the universe delivered unto us all the pandemic. Just like everyone else we've been on lock-down ever since. So here we are, engaged, and grounded to our home.

The wedding industry doesn’t seem to be doing so great. Several people we know have had to postpone weddings and meanwhile many venues have gone out of business. So it occurs to us... what if we set our creativity loose on our home and then have a wedding or at least a reception here at our own home when it's ready?

We are so excited about this idea as this not only gives us something to do during that pandemic but also something to look forward to. We’ve already begun fixing up our house keeping in mind whether or not the changes would be great to help for the party one day. And we’re even more excited to track our progress via this blog.
