We've been gradually renovating our dining room.

  • Knocked out the slate floor and installed laminate

  • Painted the fireplace surround in black grill paint

  • Replaced the window

  • Replaced the light fixture.

But we did not do anything with the mirrored wall because we thought we might knock it down and open the dining room up to the kitchen.

Recently we discussed that we will not be able to work on knocking that wall down anytime soon, so we decided to spruce it up for now. Now and we both LOVE how it turned out! Maybe we won't knock down the wall after all.

Before

Before dining room. Slate tile. Mirrored wall.
Before: Dining Room with slate tile, mirrored wall and original window.

After

Board and batten dining room. Black dining room. Moody Dining room. Gray dining room. Small dining room. Dining room with low ceiling. DIY Dining room remodel. 60's rambler dining room remodel.
After: Mirrored wall gone! Board and batten dining room wall, new windows, new floor, new light, new switch plates and some new art.

DIY Dining room remodel. Small dining room. Low ceiling dining room. Moody dining room. Before and after dining room. Black dining room. Dark gray and white dining room. Board and batten dining room.
After: We decided not to modify the original pocket door. I think it looks great against the white trim and graphite walls,

We kept costs very low. Chris created the board and batten out of scrap lumber he had in the garage. We only had to buy paint, caulk and some new light switches!
